The Jersey Difference: How now brown cow?
When most people think of dairy cows, they think of Holsteins, which we have quite a few of. But, it is the mass of all our 'other' cows that gets people scratching their heads around here. "What are all those little brown cows?" we often hear. Well, those brown cows are called Jerseys and they are little milk making, environmentally friendly powerhouses!
A recent study conducted by Dr. Jude Capper proved that the Jerseys carbon footprint is 20% less than that of Holsteins as well as their total environmental impact being the lowest of any dairy cow. The reason for this is that Jerseys are 2/3 the size of their Holstein counterpart. They eat less, drink less, use less land, and produce less waste. Why then wouldn't everyone use Jerseys? Well, Jerseys also produce less milk but a more nutrient-dense product. In the dairy world however, quantity proves much more valuable than quality. Most thought we were crazy to invest so much in the little brown cow, we think we couldn't have chosen wiser.
So what does all this mean for you? It means that our herd is one of the greenest in the state. More importantly though, it means that since we are the only processors to solely use milk from our own cows and not have milk shipped in from other dairies, we can produce the most environmentally friendly milk for our customers! Now that is something to cheers about!!

Home Delivery: When asked, we were told that you wanted to buy local and you wanted to support local farmers. Here at Diamond D Dairy we also practice that same philosophy. We've been supporting other local farmers and growers from which we purchase products for our dairy. This allows us to pass on a high quality and very locally proud product to you. We truly enjoy providing your family with the most nutritious drink available!
Home delivery can be a challenging business, but if done right, home delivery can be an efficient and convenient way of doing business. We keep our delivery routes efficient by making multiple stops in every neighborhood. Our truck typically will make 80-100 stops per area.
Plus, you benefit with no driving, no traffic, no standing in line, and no impulse buying. Just good, wholesome food right outside your door. It is just that simple!
Our nostalgic metal insulated coolers: Every week we deliver your online order in our nostalgic metal insulated coolers and fill them with reusable gel packs to keep your order cold.
Our inventory: Our products are the freshest you will receive. Milk in the grocery store is on average seven days old by the time it is on that store shelf. Our milk is delivered to your door on average 24 to 36 hours after our cows have been milked.
Mother Nature's Recycler: We are built upon the fact that the dairy cow is Mother Nature's recycler. We feed a nutritionally balanced ration using the highest quality feeds available. Most feed is either byproduct of human product or unsuitable for human consumption but completely healthy for dairy cows! On the other end, all of the waste produced by the dairy is captured, composted, and then used as a natural fertilizer.
